How to get to Quinta do Rabaçal

By Car:
from Porto or Lisbon
- take the A1, the main road connecting Porto and Lisbon
- exit onto the IP3 for Viseu/ Figueira da Foz (not IP5 Viseu), just before Coïmbra
- follow IP3 direction towards Viseu
- exit onto the IC12 for Guarda, Mangualde
- follow the signs for Tábua (the first one appears quickly)
- in Tábua you should follow the signposts for Midões and Oliveira do Hospital. Follow this road for about 10 km until you
reach the signpost for Vila do Mato. Take the turnoff for this village.
- at the ‘T’ junction at the top of the hill in the centre of Vila do Mato (just after cafe Taky Taka) take the right fork
- turn left at ‘Rua do Carreiro’ which is about 60metres along the road. Continue along Rua do Carreiro (it will change into
‘Rua do Viso’) until the last house (‘Canicova’). Here you will start to go down into the eucalyptus woods, and begin to pick
up our signs for the quinta ‘Quinta do Rabacal’. The forest track is about 2km long and offers spectacular views over the
surrounding countryside and the river valley below.
from Spain, Salamanca
- head for ‘Guarda’
- then pick up the IP5 in the direction of ‘Aveiro’
- exit at the junction for ‘Celorico da Beira’ and pick up the N17 in the direction of ‘Coimbra’
- exit at the ‘Hotel S. Paulo’ just before Oliveira do Hospital, follow this road a for a few kilometres
- go straight through the roundabout, and the traffic lights to the right and immediately to the left and at the next
crossroads turn to the right (following the signs for ‘Bobadela’ and ‘Travanca de Lagos’)
- after 2 kilometres you will reach a roundabout with modern statues in the centre, take the turnoff for ‘Midões’
- at the next roundabout (7 kms) take the turnoff for ‘Tábua’
- at the crossroads (1km), turn to the right
- after a couple of hundred metres, turn left for ‘Vila do Mato’,
- at the ‘T’ junction at the top of the hill in the centre of Vila do Mato (just after cafe Taky Taka) take the right fork

By public transportation:
With advance notice, we can pick you up from these train and bus stations or you can
also take a taxi.
By bus
Eurolines has a stop in Oliveira do Hospital (12 km)
By train
The international train Paris
Lisbon line stops in Santa Comba Dao (15 km).
From Porto and Lisbon airports by car
It takes 2.5 hours to get here from Porto Airport, or 3 hours from Lisbon airport.
From Lisbon:
By bus
From station Arco de Cego to Oliveira do Hospital (12 km).
Some services
require a change of bus in Coimbra.
By train
From station Oriente there are intercity trains to Santa Comba Dao
(15 km)
and Carregal do Sal (10 km)
From Porto:
By train
From station Campanha (20 minutes by metro) to Pamphilosa, transfer to
Santa Comba Dao (15 km) or Carregal do Sal (10 km)
By bus
Take a bus from the airport to the city centre to bus station at Praça da
Batalha, buy a ticket to Oliveira do Hospital, changing buses in Coimbra.
